Responsibilities
Position Summary:
The Customs Clearance Specialist is responsible for ensuring the smooth, compliant, and timely clearance of all export shipments to over 100 countries. This role oversees documentation accuracy, compliance with global customs regulations, coordination with freight forwarders, customs brokers, and internal teams, and ensures that all export operations meet international trade requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Export Clearance & Documentation
- Prepare, review, and validate all export documents including invoices, packing lists, certificates of origin, bill of lading, and any country-specific documents.
- Submit and follow up on export declarations through customs portals and with brokers.
- Monitor and ensure timely release of shipments while preventing delays or penalties.
2. Compliance & Regulatory Control
- Maintain deep knowledge of international customs regulations, INCOTERMS, export control laws, and trade agreements for all countries served.
- Ensure company compliance with export laws, sanctions, and restrictions for specific markets.
- Conduct periodic audits on export documentation for accuracy and compliance.
3. Reporting & Documentation Control
- Maintain digital archives of all customs documentation.
- Generate weekly and monthly reports on clearance performance, delays, and compliance gaps.
- Support internal and external audits (ISO, regulatory bodies, etc.).
Required skills and experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, International Trade, or related field.
- 1+ years of experience in customs clearance within a manufacturing or exporting organization.
- Strong knowledge of global customs regulations, export documentation, and INCOTERMS.
- Excellent English communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
